10 Random Traffic Generation Strategies – Part 2

Welcome on board. Thank you visiting EMoneyMarketing.com for the first time! I hope you will find some value here. Cheers!

image4In the last issue, I came out with the first ever issue of ‘10 Random Traffic Generation Strategies’ series.

Got rather good feedbacks on it.

So let’s get straight to the point.

Here’s part 2!

Note: There are thousand and one ways to get traffic. What’s important is to take action and focus on the ones that work best for you.

1. Encourage your visitors to spread the word about you with a Tell-a-Friend script – in exchange for an incentive

2. Submit articles to article directories like EzineArticles and GoArticles.

3. Look for sites related to your niche, and offer to do a banner/email exchange.

4. Place an add on Yahoo Classifieds.

5. Expose yourself with Craiglist.

6. Give away free reports/software/scripts that links back to your site.

7. Write a press release and submit to PRWeb.com

8. Answer people’s questions at Yahoo Answers, and get not just traffic, but credibility along the way.

9. Submit your RSS feeds to RSS directories.

10. Hold a contest among your readers and offer a lot of attractive incentives.

There. The 2nd in the series…

More to come? We shall see.

Let me know your thoughts.

All Success,

Craigslist is a tough beast to tame. If you’re not offering something valuable over there, your post will likely be flagged as spam and quickly removed. But if you have an ebook or report to give away, you could probably offer it on craigslist. Just remember to provide value.

Overall this is a good list. However I don’t think the “tell a friend” script does much good.

I have some experience with submitting to craiglist, the best tip I can say, is that don’t act like a spammer on craiglist, and your ads will stay there, without being removed :)

Craigs list is good, can I also recomend Gumtree. Same deal dont spam the advert, just promote your site as you would normally and wait for the traffic.

I like your list and thanks for the ideas. You really do need to utilize multiple optimization techniques to bring the traffic in at a low cost.

@awyer in Fredericksburg : Yep very true. Craiglist is hard against spammy postings. Have to be careful with your ads posting and the frequency.

@ Hostmonster Review: Yes sure! Copy the post if you wish. No problemo…

@ Mortgage brokers: Never heard of Gumtree. Gotta check it out. Thanks for the info.

@ Affordable SEO: Tell-a-friend won’t give you infinite traffic, but it do helps with no work on your part actually.

Just set it up, backed by an incentive, and you can basically let it run on autopilot. It has helped one of my site garner grater awareness. Not huge amount. But viral nevertheless.

To all:

Thanks for all the comments. Keep it coming! =)

You forgot to talk about ‘Link baiting,’ I think. Doing outlandish things to get random back-links is a great way to get traffic.

Distributing a bit of free software with a link to your site in it is a capital idea. After the initial effort, it should promote itself virally.

@TT Loan Shark:

Yes. That is a very good way actually. You can also distribute the free software to download sites. It can auto-run by itself later.

@Chan Sui,

Good. Keep that up. Answering people questions gives you credibility. And they are more inclined to visit your site to find out more about you.

Good work!

I have one press release at PRWeb, and am having writers block on something genuinely news worthy to submit. Working on it.

Have submitted to Craigslist- since we sell tangible items no problem in getting and staying on. Have submitted to the large metro areas as well as locally. Will have to try Gumtree. Never know where the gems may be hiding?

Freebies work for us as everyone likes something for nothing.

Yahoo Answers – Can be addictive, got into a period there where I was monitoring it frequently trying to get the “best answer” which remains indefinitely as far as I know. Saw the links showing up in Yahoo link backs. Yay!

Articles- I have written 30+ articles, submitted a couple to Ezine Articles, have some published on my site, others on my blogs, but am not really sure how duplicate content comes into play.

Thanks for the list – I found it helpful!

Aside from Content of course, it does help immersing yourself in web communities that are relevant to your blog’s subject matter.

Absolutely article marketing still works. It may not work quite as well as it used to, but it still works. You get anchored backlinks and a bonus is that you get visitors as well. I submitted an article to Ezinearticles for a new site and so far every visitor to the site has come from that article. And it got me indexed

@Chantix: Care to elaborate more about blog seeding? Not quite sure about that.

@Goldwater: Good tip. That’s a great way to reach out to targeted audience. Targeted audience means better buyer too!

@Flirty: That’s some serious work done there on your side. Good for you. I used to be doing lotsa stuff on Yahoo Answers. Certainly a good way to build credibility AND traffic!

“6. Give away free reports/software/scripts that links back to your site.”

This is best used in combination with social bookmarking — have something free on your site, then promote it on Digg, etc.
