How To Predict If a Niche Or Keyword Is Likely To Be Profitable…

If you are into pay per click marketing and niche market research, you will do well to pay attention to this little-know, almost “under-the-radar” tool.

I only came to be aware of this tool recently.

And to think this tool is a free one – from MSN AdCenter Labs. The name is “Audience Intelligence”. It’s seems like a lot of us are pre-occupied with the power tools at Google, that we forget that MSN AdCenter do also have potent “weapons” of their own.

Okay…here’s what this tool does – it helps you predict whether there is a commercial intent of an online visitor. Are they looking to buy something? Or just looking for information?

This is huge. Because if you are doing business online, and want the greatest return on your investment – your immediate target will be the crowd that are ALREADY set to buy.

This video shows how it works. Watch it now…

Here’s the link to MSN AdCenter Labs (Audience Intelligence):

Seems like a useful tool, but I’m wondering what kind of algorithm they use to come up with the level of commercial intent for each keyword. I personally like the AdWords tool because it gives you a real figure to work with – but then again, how you monetize depends greatly on whether you are “selling” information or trying to sell products or affiliate links.

@Jay:

I wouldn’t replace Adwords keyword tool with MSN Audience Intelligence. And it’s meant to be a replacement anyway.

MSN Audience Intelligence is not a keyword tool. It’s more of a tool you can use to detect the buying behavioral of visitors when they visit a certain website…or punch in a certain keyword into the search engine.

The key here is to detect the probability of buying.

Whether you are an affiliate or a product seller, you are really would want to target those who are the ’state’ to buy. And ideally those that want to buy – NOW.

That’s where the MSN AdCenter Audience Intelligence can give you some insights.

Jag

I believe that most internet marketers were really embracing google tools than any other tools. Your article reminds us to try looking for other options and not to totally stuck up with google.

I like the purpose of this MSN tool because through this tool you can predict the intention of visitors to your site and because of this predictor ability you can immediately make some changes to make it more profitable.

I hope that all internet marketers will use this kind of tool too which is very helpful.

Good tip. We can easily get caught up in the “google world” and forget about everything else. I’ve sometimes used commercial intent but not for a while. Thanks for the reminder.

I need an idea for a business that’s based on buying and re-selling (like buying wholesale, then selling it for profit). Or even a business where you invest in machines to provide most of the service (like a coin laundry or tanning salon).

Let’s say you save around $60,000-$100,000 and you want to start a business so you can settle down and have more personal freedom (or at least be able to work from home).

What type of business is usually profitable (with the proper effort out into it, of course)? Something you can live comfortably off of and be able to move around more freely?

Thanks : )

You’re right, we tend to overlook this. In fact I had no idea that MSN had any tools of this sort at all.

I think the potential of the keywords and niche can be justified by using Adwords Keyword Tool or any other tool out there? Btw, thanks for sharing the video! I enjoy watching it. :D

Thank you for posting this information. Being new in the area of support for a for a copywriter, it is essential for me to now how to assist in marketing the product. I read in a previous comment that Adwords keyword tool and Google keyword should not be replaced with this because it is not a keyword tool. I guess I’m confused because would you not use it to find keywords that would help you attract buyers looking to buy a specific product?
If anything it looks like a very interesting tool to try out and use.
Thanks again…

@Cindi:

Google keyword tool as the name suggests – are meant to be used to dig out relevant keywords for ppc campaign or article marketing.

Give them a root keyword, and they will return you many other relevant keywords.

MSN AdCenter Audience Intelligence tool, on the other hand, doesn’t do that.

What it does is that it will tell you if there is likely to be commercial intent if someone searches for a particular keyword or website.

You will have to plug in the keyword yourself. And you can get the list of keywords from the Google keyword tool generates for you.

See this MSN tool as a complimentary tool with Google keyword tool. It’s not meant to be a replacement.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jag

Despite how useful is the new tool, I’m not going to buy any other keyword research tool until I think I need it. Currently I’m using Adwords Keyword Tool and I find it quite useful. Anyway, I enjoy reading your post.
