How To Turn The Table On Those Who Play The Good Cop, Bad Cop Technique On You!

image Last week, I talk about the effectiveness of the good cop, bad cop routine as a negotiation technique.

Now, let's change perspective a little here, shall we?

Let's say...now you are not the one that is using this technique. But instead, you are the one on the receiving end of this.

How would you react? Remember I mentioned that, sometimes even when one knows that the technique is being used on him - he still ends up falling for it?

With your permission, I will explain to you a 2 sneaky but yet very simple tricks on how to turn the table on those who dare mess with you. Some nerve!

Turn The Table Trick No. 1

Embarrass them. Say, "You guys are not gonna play the good cop, bad cop on me, aren't you? I'm about to burst out in laughter now..."

That shall land some rotten eggs on their face! Eat that, bonehead!

Turn The Table Trick.  No. 2

Tell the good cop, that whatever the bad cop says, you are going to attribute that to him as well.

So now both are bad! And the 'good cop, bad cop' routine loses it effectiveness.

See how easy it is to turn the table?

Now go. Try it when someone tries to make a mockery out of you.

You will be secretly smiling to yourself...

As usual, let me know your comments. I'm all ears!

All Success,

This is the first time I visited this site and I am amazed that the traditional terms and means for negotiation in business have been given a new and exciting twist through the good-cop-bad-cop scheme.

    @ FREE PS3:

This post is about how to defend yourself against anyone who is using the “Good Cop, Bad Cop” negotiation technique on you.

    @Marry:

Yes! This technique was used in Batman, when Commission Gordon and Batman took turns to interrogate the Joker.

If you noticed, Joker tried to downplay the technique by asking them if they were trying to try the trick on him.

Batman proceed to bash him anyway. =)

I’ve definitely been at the mercy of this persuasion tactic, and it’s not pleasant because the threatening party is usually quite experienced at their act. I think if you recognized the situation and wanted out, you’d have to grow a pair and settle for whatever happens. Chances are it will get worse before it gets better.

Haha man that would have been so funny to see if they only used this method on CSI. Those idiots would not have seen this coming. Just a thought, why is it that the good cop always gives the suspect a cigarette to smooth things over. IMHO that is one bad cop. Smoking Kills.
