World Internet Mega Summit Review

It’s day 3 of the World Internet Summit, and I’ve gotta to say that I’ve mixed feelings about the whole event.

Why mixed feelings? Isn’t this supposed to be biggest and most impactful Internet business event of the year? Yes, without a doubt – it is!

Thousands of participants attended. The atmosphere was great. The condition and set up of the hall were done to create a somewhat conducive environment for the speakers to make a powerful connection with the audience.

Moving on to the speakers, some of them are truly world class. David Cavenagh, Armand Morin and in particular, Brett McFall stand out. They were polished in their delivery. Cool, calm and collected, if you will. They definitely do know how to work and engage the crowd. For that, they get two massive thumbs up from me.

Okay I mentioned mixed right? Meaning that there were some negatives. Yes, unfortunately, I felt that way.

Why?

To be honest, I came to the event expecting some truly powerful concepts and secret techniques, but those were few and far between. At least to me.

There were some golden nuggets of information from Mark Joyner, Jay Abraham (what a great mind and strategist!), Armand Morin and Brett McFall, but the rest of the speakers, while good, didn’t give stuff that were exactly cutting-edge.

This event was clearly geared towards those who are new to Internet Marketing (no wonder the event is priced at only $97).

I knew there will be bound to be some sales pitching, but I didn’t expect to receive more than a fair bit of it.

Well I guess, different folks different strokes. I’m sure there were many in the audience that have benefited from the various presentations, especially those who are very new to Internet Marketing.

Ironically the things I truly learnt from were on how they make the sales pitches. I can recognize many of the methods they utilize to sell.

Techniques like using proof of earnings as a credentializer, bringing in live testimonials, playing with the audience’s emotions like greed were used. I’ve to add they were quite effective at it. The speakers played up the imagination for the audience to let them fill in the blanks for themselves in a picture that looked absolutely wonderful. Frankly it’s compelling. It is serious power copywriting techniques, displayed LIVE in motion!

My personal view is that the true value of the Mega summit lies not in the presentations but the actual networking that takes place outside the hall. While I didn’t really go around socializing much, I did manage to speak to some Internet Marketers whom I previously got to know on the Net, for the very first time. It was pretty nice and pleasant. It was a pity I didn’t get to meet a marketer whom I particularly respect.

Another highlight for me was that I had some really good marketing conversations and idea exchanges with a friend I went with for the event. We were there sitting down, scrutinizing the speakers’ words, actions, marketing techniques and salesmanship. It was fun and educational at the same time! Gotta say that we really think alike in many ways. Very refreshing and very engaging.

It have been a hectic few days at the World Internet Mega Summit. Gonna take a short break.

Will be back. Watch this space!

Hey Ezri,

Yea it was a 4 days event, spanning past the weekend, from Sat to Tues. That is why I didn’t have the chance to tell you during our sunday soccer sessions.
