The Big Money Is In The ‘Lazy’ and ‘Hungry and Desperate’ Market

You know the old adage - "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." I very much believe in this too. Learning a useful skill is important. Unfortunately, not many people subscribe to this wisdom. A whole lot of people out there are just looking for an instant quick fix solution to their problems without wanting to lift much of a finger. They are the 'lazy' crowd. And then, there is another group of people who are in situations so dire, that they grab whatever helping hand that are extended to them. Often they face problems so pressing, that they look hungrily and desperately around for an answer. They are the 'hungry and desperate' crowd. So what do the 'lazy' and 'hungry and desperate' crowd have in common? They are all eyed by the shrewd marketers and businessmen looking to cash in on their problems and solve it for them - for a generous fee! Take for example, someone who wants to set up an online store to sell some goods. He wants and dreams of earning big bucks but he is lazy. He lazy to learn coding. He is lazy to learn how a content management system works. He is lazy to source for goods to sell. Heck, maybe he is even lazy to wipe his own ass. Now, you offer him an online store, all nicely done up, content in place, complete with goods ready to sell. Will he buy it from you? You bet he will! Lets look at another example. A man cannot satisfy his wife in bed. He becomes increasingly agitated. He needs to feel like a new man again. He wants his mojo back. Now you pop up and offer him a miracle solution to turn him into a beast that will put even Casanova to shame. Will he buy from you? You bet he will! Perhaps I can better explain the 'desperate' point in the last scenario. You are having a bad bout of diarrhoea, with your poo all ready to spurt out at any given moment. There is no toilet in sight. You are cursing and swearing like a mad man. Suddenly you spot a toilet and gratefully, you rush towards it. However before you can enter, the toilet attendant demands that you pay 10 freaking bucks for entry! Will you? Given your desperate situation, I have no shadow of a doubt that you will. And you will probably press the money so hard in his hands with such desperate fury, that you could have even injured his hand! From here, we can see that it is very easy to sell to such crowds. It doesn't take much persuading. In fact, they will thank their lucky stars that they found you. All they want are answers. You provide it. Money goes into your pocket. If you are looking for a profitable niche today to venture into, think first about the 'lazy' and 'hungry and desperate' crowd. Offer a ready made solution to desperate problems. People will PAY for it, and often at a PREMIUM! Some things for you and me to ponder about. Hopefully that generates some money-making ideas for you. I will like to know what you think and your comments. Is there any other crowd which we should target or any particular niche we can look out for? Please share and give you two cents.     Hi Court,

    Sometimes people think about so much things when they think of a niche to go into.

    They spend so much time fussing about the SEO prospect, the demand and supply, and whether they can rank well if they go into the niche, when in actual fact, they should just really think about whether money is already being spent in the niche.

    For sure, with regards to the ‘lazy and desperate’ crowd, money is being spent there like crazy!

    I don’t know if I will be able to sleep tonight with your graphic metaphors on my mind. :-) I believe marketing to the desperate and the lazy has always worked, but surely there must be a new marketing paradigm which is on the horizon and
    which can be implemented without making a man s*** in his pants, eh?

    I look at my blogs in the traditional sense of a business. It takes time to build an offline business. You have to have a good plan in place and then execute it. I do have to add that the internet is an easier and faster way of generating money, but it is still a business. Education is important, but the key is only buy infoproducts that fit in and can accelerate your overall plan.

    Sorrieee…I didn’t mean it to be graphic. Not my intention at all. I just wanted to drive home my point about desperate situation.

    Haha..Anyway yes, there should be more profitable market out there, other than the ‘lazy’ and ‘desperate’ crowd. I’m only highlighting these two specifically, as it is comparatively easier to sell than other crowds, and often they will pay top dollars for your service.

    I absolutely agree with you on this! I’ve mentioned on my blog before and I will keep mentioning it again, if someone is serious about making money online then they should treat it like a real business, online business is just as serious as offline. and for people who are looking to make quick cash, easy come easy go, all they’ll be making is pennies while others are making all the cash.

    Awesome post Jag. The big money is definitely there, in the lazy, hungry and desperate market. I have thought about this before but havnt targeted them yet, maybe I am lazy too…lol, but I definitely wouldn’t pay 10 bucks to the toilet attendant, Ill push him away and get on to finish my job and maybe pay him a buck later to compensate for the push…lol.

    We are all lazy - at times. That’s why an instant solution is just SOOO appealing. If we can turn this situation to our advantage, this is good money here which we are talking about.

    Haha…good move with regards to that toilet attendant. Guess I will probably either threaten to beat the s*** out of him or I threaten to s*** in front of him, if he doesn’t let me in. I dunno which is worse! Then again, desperate times call for desperate measures!

    Perhaps to see this at a slightly different angle, those ‘lazy & desperate’ people are looking for convenience. There are so many things that we need for our daily activities; whether for business or personal. And we don’t have the time to do everything ourselves, so we ‘outsource’.
    Having said that, the financial situation today isn’t exactly tip top. So people will still choose the best (quality & price) in the market. To pay top dollar, it will probably take a recognised brand or a really good marketing campaign for consumer confidence.
    As a vendor, it is very much a responsibility to provide products/services with sincerity. Certainly, desperate people would do almost anything, but I believe in karma (My name is Ed (not Earl) hehehe). The ’shit’ tends to come around.
    As for becoming a vendor, it is important to keep evolving the business plan and improving sales strategies. Sure it is easy to purchase ready templates and solutions, but the more significant part of the business is the process, keeping updated and relevant. Online business is easy to start, but always a challenge to sustain. And one won’t go far as fast, if one stays lazy (based on own experience here).

    Hey Ed,

    You are absolutely right man! Knowing the niche is one thing, whether you can provide the right kind of solution that can provide value is another.

    For sure, vendors have to be sincere in their service to clients. It’s all about establishing a win-win situation. Everyone must go home happy, and that’s the ideal we should all strive towards.

    What you say is very true with regards to online business being very easy to start but challenging to sustain. A lot of smarts in addition to hard work is required. Most importantly, action not just talk is required to kick start things!

    Hi Jag,
    I like your post, it’s certainly something to think about. One thing that came to mind is targeting ‘the busy’. So many people are busy and they are looking for ways to simplify their lives as well as save themselves as much time as possible. I think this is probably the largest market.

    You’re certainly right about lazy and desperate people being a market though. I think that’s why so many people fall for scams, because they’re looking for an easy way to make money or because they are offered the ‘miracle solution’.

    You are so so right about the scam part. I dare say that 99% of those who fall for such scams are very lazy people - those who want fast riches but don’t want to put much action into it.

    And the point about ‘busy’ market and simplifying the process? I think you are spot on!

    so true. you should meet all the guys I work with. I am not saying that I never get lazy, but luckily I grew up knowing if I wanted something, I would have to work to get it. Everyone I work with are wanting to go out and make 100 grand next month without really having any developed skills or talents to sustain it.

    Firstly, I gotta say that this thread seems to have struck a chord with many people going by the number of comments here.

    Yes I have to agree with you. Actually even if we can develop a lazy-man solution for lazy man, it will only help in the short run. To really help oneself in the long term, he has to definitely develop a mindset where he has to work hard to achieve something. Always has been, always will be this way.
