Great (and sobering) read for budding Internet Marketers out there
The other day I came across an interesting post by a member in the Warrior forum who attached a link to an article to his blog.
I was curious enough to click on the link, and boy was the article a great, and may I add, sobering read!
It details views which I thought was very true and echoes some of the thoughts and opinions I hold which I talked about in the post about hard-hitting lessons I’ve learnt.
The article, titled “Internet Marketing: The Harsh Reality“, by Martin Avis, really hits the nail on the head!
I’m in total agreement with many of his points.
If you ever want to dabble in business, do it for the right reasons, and not just for the sake of instant cash and fame. You must sincerely believe you can make a difference to your customers and partners.
Many are just in it for the quick fix, and to stroke their ego. They really do not know how much effort is being involved. Martin pointed out that if you want to go into business, you have to be in it for the long haul!
He is damn right!
Another point he made which I think is very applicable as well is about establishing a system that works for you and sticking with it!
There are just too many ways out there to make money. Many systems. Many routes. However, the destination remains the same – success!
We must understand that many different paths can lead to our goals, but we have to choose one that fits our beliefs, principles, working style and our unique personality. What may suit others may not suit you.
For example, there are some people that use black hat strategy to boost their results, which may seem like unethical practices to others. You can argue so, but if it works for them, and bring in the cash, I don’t think we can dispute that too much (personally I’m not into black hat methods though).
So, find something that you belief in, stick with it and give it your best shot!
Speaking about being in the long haul and establishing a system that works for you, I see many parallels between Internet Marketing and Investment.
The latter is also all about the same principles.
Warren Buffett, a legendary investor, is renowned for his long term outlook. Then again, George Soros, an equally famous (or infamous to some who were affected by his punts during the Asian Currency Crisis in 1997) speculator, likes to go in quickly and exit just as rapidly, usually with millions of profit in tow.
So it also boils down to having a system that works for you. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.
Oh well, I think I’m going a bit off tangent here.
I shall leave you with the article then. Enjoy!
