Don’t believe my recommendations!

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Do also join our FREE membership where you will find tons of bonus marketing reports, cheatsheet and guides. Yep. 0 charge, 100% value. Join NOW!

If you have read through my blog since its birth, you will have came across some recommended services and resources that I’ve spoken highly of such as Internet Marketing all-in-one E-commerce solution Site-Build-It, autoresponder service provider Aweber,  stock charting software ChartNexus and web-hosting provider Hostgator.

Now, what I want to say is that while I give my recommendations with a sincere heart believing that it will truly benefit someone out there who is looking for an answer, I will still like to say, “DON’T BELIEVE IT!” Not until you have done your own research and due diligence that is.

There are always many people recommending this and that, and while some are truly good and worth every penny, many others are just pure crap. We must always ask ourselves some questions first, before contemplating buying or taking up the service.

1. Does it suit my requirements?

Ferrari may be a superb car. However if I just want a simple no frills vehicle that can take me from point A to B, I won’t need such an expensive high end car, even if the whole racing world is raving about it.

2. Is it too expensive and way out of my budget?

I’m not advocating cheap solutions in every cases here, as some of these can be mediocre at best, but there is no point getting something that is way too expensive, and you end up with little kitty in the bank for other more important things.

3. Does it fit into my long term plan?

Some products are great for short term fixes, but will it be cost-effective and feasible in the long run? Always good to think ahead before you make a move.

4. Is this product really necessary or is it here just to stroke my ego?

You know humans right? They love to follow the crowd. The proverbial herd mentality. We hear people waxing lyrical about the latest sophisticated Nokia phone with gazillion features, and we instantly feel like getting one ourselves. Is there such a need? Are our phones not serving us well enough? Didn’t we bought one 5 months back when that hot Samsung phone came out?

I hope you get the drift.

Ok so maybe you have already asked yourself all the hard questions, and you decided that the product is necessary and may be worth shelling out some cash for.

Great!

But wait on a second!

Before you reach for the wallet, do the following steps and it may save you some cursing and swearing later on.

A. Do a Google search on their competitors and compare and contrast them. You never know if a rival product may actually serve your needs better.

B. Again, do a Google search for any reviews on the product. Look out for general bad comments and praises about that particular product. Weigh them, and see which one reigns.

C. Test their support (if they have any). Make sure they are able to readily reply to any of your queries well.

Once you are done and feel reasonably satisfied that the product has passed all your criteria, go for it!

Now you can be sure you will be getting your money worth!
