Always go with a .com .net or .org those are the ones that you can get to rank a lot easier and they have more authority over .info .us .mobi ect.

Selection of domain has taught me good lesson when I was trying to optimize my website with .com.cn extension to global market to target US audience. I could never reach on top with same domain name extension and My website was showing on first page for the keywords in China but not in US and which lead me to do research on achieving rank for specific Geo graphic location.

I think only .com is standard because it’s easy to remember and also It sounds like professional.
But when to go to register new .com domain name then we can’t find small, easy to remember names because most of them are already registered.
So I think .biz or .net are also good options.

i own a .org site and i constantly find myself telling people its .com . if you go with something other than .com you should definitely buy up the .com domain and redirect it to your site. great article btw

I would say that .com would be a better choice, just because most people try that extension first. In real emergencies, like when I’m in need of towing, I always try to guess the site before googling it.
