tagline Attention-grabbing headlines are the ads for the ads. It can alone decide if the advertisement will be successful or wildly successful.

Taglines work in a similar way. It complements the product name. It sums up what the product is all about in a few words.

Sometimes a good tagline can make the difference between a outstanding product or an averagely mediocre one. Just like how headlines can influence the profitability of an ad.

Some of the most memorable taglines to me are:

Lexus: The relentless pursuit of perfection.

MasterCard: There are some things that money can’t buy. For everything else, there is MasterCard.

Nike: Just do it!

Kodak: Share moments. Share life

L’Oréal: Because I’m worth it.

Simply BRILLIANT!

What about yours? Have any taglines you particularly fancy? Or any you created yourself?

I can think of one great tag. Literally.

    Kellogg’s tagline - “It’s greeeeeat!”

Who can forget that Tiger doing that thing.

    Ahh. Memories of childhood days.

    Hey Daa,

    Yes. Kellogg. How coincidental.

I was just thinking about this tagline the other day.

This is the tagline of Smart, a TelCo here in my country: Simply Amazing.

Such tagline grew so much in popularity that while doing our homework regarding mortgage refinance, my classmates and I just keeps on repeating that line whenever we think of something good.

I’ve always liked Nike’s: “Just do it” as well. I think it is simple, yet it works.

Simply Amazing? Simply amazing that it works. When I was at my wife’s families house, you had to stand outside on the bench to get a signal. :)

I like Thai Airways tagline, Smooth as Silk. It’s hard to imagine any flight smooth as silk, but it has a nice feel to it.

I like the tagline of Canon “You can”. Simple but successfully, I think… Also “The relentless pursuit of perfection” sounds very invitingly :)))

I find the MasterCard tagline really good:

“There are some things money can’t buy. For everything else, theres MasterCard”

It touches people by telling them that MasterCard respects some things which are close to you and which we know that you dont compare with money, and we wish to leave those things as they are keeping your sentiments and emotions in mind. But for everything else, we’re here for you.

    Its just amazing!!
