Nowadays we have so many kinds of different marketing strategies out there that we sometimes do tend to forgot about and neglect a very simple yet effective method which has been tried and tested, and proven to work - Email Marketing.
To me (and in fact many Internet marketers out there), Email marketing is one of the most important web strategy that one must incorporate into their business planning.
In the past, we used to send out letters by the snail’s mail way, incurring expenses such as paper, postage and envelopes. With emails, it makes communication a breeze. Everyone can be reached, cheaply, quickly and efficiently.
It was only a matter of time before marketers started to realize the importance of email marketing and how it can be utilized to reach out to their target audience. Yet currently there are still many out there who do not comprehend just how vital email marketing and building up the list is to the growth and profitability of their businesses.
You may ask, “what is so darn important about building a list? Sounds really boring to me!”
Well, lets consider a few points:
1. If you don’t capture and get hold of the visitors to your site, they may not come back (touch wood!) and you will lose them forever. I’ve seen websites that get loads and loads of hits, but they don’t capture their emails. Practically sitting on a goldmine, but they are just letting them go cheaply. What an utter waste! Bye bye to all the potential flush of cash!
2. With an email list full of targetted subscribers, there are so many things you can do to boost your business.
You can send out newsletters that provide valuable information which your subscribers want to hear, credentializing yourself along the way.
3. With that, you can also presell, warm them up, and convert prospects into customers.
4. To monetize, you can help promote your partner’s or your own product. Upsell and cross-sell. The possibilities are limitless.
5. Very importantly, you can build up a long term relationship with them, getting lifelong residual income.
Perhaps you may even find new joint ventures and partnerships with people within your list! There are many magical things you can do when you build up a list!
Bottomline is, building a list is absolute critical to any business!

An autoresponder allows you to build a list, set up a newsletter, implement a 5 days (or less/more) email course, configure and personalized your settings, and do much much more.
Good and reputable web-based ones are Aweber and GetResponse. These are subscription-based services that require monthly/yearly payments.
If you prefer solutions where you only need to pay a one time fee, email autoresponder scripts like ListMailPro which are stored in your server, are worth considering.
With the autoresponder in your arsenal, it is half the battle won.
Now how to get people to opt in to your email list?
Quite simple actually. Works almost everytime.
Just offer a FREE PDF report or any other goodies you can think of (eg. software, audio mp3 etc) packed and filled with valuable information which your visitors are seeking, in exchange for their name and email address (you can request for more details but usually the lesser the number of questions asked, the higher the chance of opt-in).
If you want to make the offer even more irresistible, throw in a few more freebies. Or better yet, give it to them after they signed up. Make it an unannounced bonus. In the process, you had overdelivered, which goes some way in enhancing your reputation and at the same time, the subscriber will definitely feel good about getting more value.
Once you build up a good decent targetted list that is responsive, get prepared to see your profit skyrocket!

On a last note, don’t just blatantly sell and sell like nobody’s business to your list. Provide VALUE. Provide USEFUL INFORMATION. If you establish a win-win relationship, you can be sure your business is gonna be in the groove for a long time to come.
