The Best Form Of Advertising…Ever?

Pay Per Click Marketing - Google AdwordsThere are many forms of advertising out there.

In fact a whole gamut of them. We are talking about common advertising and marketing methods such as direct mailers, print ads, newspaper, magazine ads, directory listings, search engine optimization, banner ads, blog marketing, article marketing…and the list goes on…

Some works well. Some not so well. Some are just a plain waste of time.

And then there are some that works well but takes a long time.

Today’s post is about an advertising method that works VERY well…and gives fast results – provided you know what you are doing.

Some of you may already be familiar with it and using it to great effect. But most of you probably have not yet.

And what is this advertising method?

Google Adwords.

Yep. Google Adwords.

If there is one marketing methods I’ve regret not using earlier, it is adwords.

Boy..how many sales have I missed out on? I wonder sometimes…

And that’s the reason why I’ve not touch on Adwords previously. Cos’ I’ve not utilized it before. But it’s all going to change now.

I will be devoting a lot more articles and posts on Adwords.

So Why Is Google Adwords One Of The Best Form of Advertising?

Here’s why:

1. You get almost instant traffic to your site.

2. The traffic you get is very targeted (depending on the choice of keywords you use), and targeted visitors convert much better.

And the fact that the visitors come to you instead of the other way round means that they are interested in your scope that your product covers and hence again – more likely buyers.

3. You only pay per click on your ad.

At least you can be sure you only pay when visitors are brought through to your site (how much you pay is another matter though as it depends on a few factors like keyword competition and how well optimized you ad is).

4. Adwords gives you the ability to split test across a variety of ads which you can then determine which one gives you the highest click through rate.

The ability to test, track and optimize is extremely important.

Because it can quickly allow you to ditch non-performing ads, you could then concentrate on optimizing those that work well, ensuring a maximum of return on investment (ROI) for you.

Now having said all these, I’m not coming here to tell you that the rest of the advertising methods are not worth doing.

You definitely could use them in tandem with Adwords in a multi-channel marketing campaign.

But say you have limited time on your hands, and there is only 1 method you can try – then it has to be Google Adwords without a doubt.

Is Google Adwords Expensive?

Dude…are you kidding me?

It’s not so much about cost. It’s about the net profits you can obtain.

If you can get $2 out of every $1 spend…will you spend that $1?

Is Google Adwords A Guaranteed Route To Success?

Nope. The only things that are guaranteed in life are death and taxes.

Google Adwords can be a very powerful tool in your marketing arsenal – provided you know how to utilize it efficiently.

It’s like having a Ferrari. It useless if you don’t know how to drive it.

I’ve seen people spending money on Google Adwords. But their sites do not even have an opt-in mechanism or a call-to-action to buy a product.

These people are just throwing money down the drain.

These stuff – I will leave it to another day to discuss.

Meanwhile, I just want to bring your attention to this powerful marketing tool. If you those that have totally not heard of it before, and you are looking to sell something – then you must explore the option of Adwords.

If you have been on the fence before, use it.

You can be sure I will be talking a lot more on Google Adwords in future.

As always, I’m eager to hear your thoughts on this. I’m all ears.

All success,

Jag Foo

Google Adwords is an excellent marketing tool for any website. However I think that in the long term one should focus on organic ranking on search engines rather than relying purely on pay per click. Pay per click is excellent in the short term as you can get a first page rank for your desired keywords in a matter of minutes. In the long run, benefits of organic listings can outweigh that of Pay per click. Our web design company has spent last one year focusing on organic listings. The main focus has been to write new content for users and build links naturally. After one year of full time effort of one staff, we now receive 1000 visits from Google.

@Web Design Company:

You made a good point. We don’t have to specifically use Adwords alone. It’s especially powerful if you want immediate result and you have a product you can sell in th process.

SEO definitely has longer term benefits. And if built up well, can ensure a lot of free traffic coming in…

That said, SEO also requires a lot of effort to build up your backlinks…and relevant ones. Some time must also go in to optimizing your homepage with the right keywords.

It can get very mundane and repetitive after a while.

Also, your search engine ranking is subjected to change in Google’s algorithim as well as your competition.

In a nutshell, it’s always good to have multiple channels. I agree 100%.

Warmly,
Jag

I think I’d probably have to agree with you and you only have to look at Google’s stock market valuation to see that the market also agrees.

If you’re selling a product or service then you should definitely be trying Google AdWords. It’ll bring in customers and give you an instant idea of your site’s conversion rate. I agree with the comments above though – it’s important not to become overly reliant on Google AdWords and SEO is certainly worth working on.

There should be done a lot of work prior to advertising, as Adwords has strict policies and terms.

I don’t know if it’s the “best ever” but it can be extremely effective.

A lot is going to depend on what you’re advertising, of course. It’s also important to really understand the nuts and bolts of PPC so that you aren’t throwing money at Google without getting a good ROI.

No doubt, though, Adwords is a powerhouse.

@Learn Import Expert, Budjohn:

You are right. Not knowing what to do will only waste your adwords budget.

@Kritinia:

Interesting. You are lucky you have little competitors in the Greek market. Being niche is good!

You have hit the nail on the head with Adwords, if you can make a profit why would you not use it. Invest $1 and make $2 is right, but you need to consider the cost per click, the conversion rate and refunds (especially if you are selling digital products).

Could not agree more. Adwords is my best online marketing method to think of. But actually we just use Adwords to sell something, esp for small scale biz. It would be waste of money if you’re small biz runs campaigns just for…branding building, I think.

@ CuocThiSEO:

Oh nooooooooo….
No Adwords for brand building.

I rather go with social media for that.

PPC is for hard core, fast, direct response
campaigns. To get money into the pocket.

A measurable action must be in place.

Anything else – you are wasting money!
Good point your brought up here!

@ PPC Search Marketing:

You are right. Those are considerations
we must take into account too.

Doing PPC is like a business.
Everything must be carefully
planned and carried out.

The cash flow must be right as well.

Adwords is great for instant results but for a long term strategy, I prefer to use adwords at the beginning, then capitalize on SEO.

I agree that Adwords is a good medium for advertising. I am concentrating more on SEO these days for organic searches.

The only problem I have with Adwords is if I’m promoting a new product for a company, say for instance “Multiplex Demodulators”, most of the clicks are going to be from the other reps in the company checking out my ads, as well as other ads pertaining to the same company.

I’ve lost a a little bit due to reps being curious as to what other rep’s Adwords campaign looks like.

Google Adwords is so successful because it is so targeted, the only problem is CPC seems to be getting way too expensive in some situations. The top spot is not always the best for ROI but competition for that top spot is putting everyone’s CPC up.

There is no doubt that google adwords is the best but one must have knowledge on how to optimize it and one must have funds to start with… for starters who don’t have any advertising budget and promoting only their personal blogs, forum posting is highly recommended.

adwords is the quintessential marketing tool especially in affiliate marketing where commissions can be made fairly easily. Now mastering adwords thats a different story mainly due to quality score. Which can be huge to your success.

I’ve had limited success with Adwords. I think it depends on the type of business you are advertising.

As a couple of people have said, ranking high in organic results will always be the best.
