Here’s something to think about:

Someone with decent knowledge and takes action will make more money than someone with fantastic knowledge but doesn’t moves his ass at all.

I always fascinate at people who are obsessed about learning all they can. But doing nothing about it at all.

They say knowledge is power. I agree – in part.

Application of knowledge is power.

Look. Education is important. I always support learning. It’s a lifelong process. But learning doesn’t end with just learning.

You learn a hell lot too when you actually do.

In fact, doing and applying what you learnt takes your learning to a whole new level.

You will meet with circumstances that you have never thought about before. You will meet unforeseen problems and obstacles no one has ever told you about.

You still have to get on with it…and deal with it, isn’t it?

There’s where a lot of real learning takes place.

Learning also comes when you review the process you have just done.

What mistakes did you do? How can you learn from it so that you will become much more efficient and effective?

Education

If you have been online for at least awhile, I am sure that you have bought books from Amazon, courses from ClickBank and a whole lot of other stuff that is collecting dust on your shelves or collecting digital dust on your computer.

You are in the process of getting yourself educated so that you can have the knowledge of how to build and run a successful business online. This is a good thing, provided you will implementing what you are learn. If not, you need to practice more of what you know!

Action

If you have been to some personal development talks or some network marketing talks, you always hear about stuff like being self-motivated and taking massive action. Then again, what the heck is taking massive action?

You can take all the action you want and if you do not have the proper knowledge, you will fail anyway. I have seen so many people take action without proper knowledge and all of them are totally burnt out with nothing to show for their effort.

Success

Success happens when you take pieces of the puzzle and you put them together to see the whole big picture. Getting educated is where you find the pieces of the puzzle, taking action and doing your own testing is where you put the pieces together.

Education + Action = Success

Mistakes

Do you find yourself making a lot of mistakes? Mistakes can hardly be avoided because it is all part of your learning experience. Always learn from your mistakes so that you will not repeat them again. Also, if you did your research properly, you will make less mistakes and they will cost you less as well.

Pace

Do not rush, do things at your own pace, 1 thing at a time. When you do 1 thing at a time, you are more focused and it may seem slow, however when you are done, you will realize that you did a good job at a reasonable pace.

When you are rushing, you cannot think clearly and clarity of mind is the best thing you need when you have an urgent deadline or when you are facing a tough challenge in your business.

Progress

Keep a simple journal or notebook where you can track your results, progress and mistakes too. This is where you will learn from your own mistakes and you can see clearly which are the exact activities that are useful for your business and which ones are not.

Productivity

Create 2 simple to-do lists, 1 for weekly tasks and 1 for daily tasks. Use short and simple words on your to-do list so that you will not get the feeling of overwhelm and overload.

Always block out 45 – 60 minutes time slots to do your core tasks. Make sure that you take short breaks in between these slots. Do your best to have enough sleep so that you can keep your energy level up.

Focus

Stay focused and stop chasing after the latest Johnny come lately guru of the week. Their job is to distract you and get you to buy stuff from them. Your job is to avoid them so that you can stay focused on what you need to do to make money for yourself!

Last but not least, be persistent and never give up. Mistakes will happen and you do have what it takes to make it right. All the best!

What does your office say about you? That you are orderly and businesslike? Messy but creative? Hopelessly overwhelmed?

Whatever your current habits are – sloppy or neat – you’ll get more done and have less stress while you work if your office is intelligently organized. All kinds of studies have proven this to be so.

I’ve added at least an hour of productivity to my day by planning and organizing my work. A big part of that has to do with the physical organization of my office.

Here are 12 things you can do to make your office work harder for you.

1. Provide yourself with a range of lighting, from subtle to very bright.

You will need three or four separate light sources. I recommend fluorescents (overhead or indirect) to light up the room brightly when you’re feeling tired and need to wake yourself up. A second light source should focus on your desk. You can do that best with an overhead spot. A lamp, either on the desk or standing on the floor, will give your office a warm and friendly feeling when you entertain visitors. And natural light, shuttered with blinds, is great if you can get it.

If possible, have all your lights on rheostats (dimmers) so you can control the amount of light you need. And have them all switch on and off from the same place – preferably by the door.

The lighting in your environment may seem unimportant if you are not used to giving it any attention, but it has a direct effect on your energy and your mood. Use the best-quality lights you can afford.

2. Make the space workable.

Your desk and credenza should be tailor-made to fit your working style. Don’t shortchange yourself here. Give yourself sufficient room, but not so much that you will accumulate more stuff than you need. Make sure the files and equipment you use regularly are within easy reach. And position the furniture so that you can easily move from desk to credenza and back.

Put your computer on the credenza, not on your desk. That way, when people come in to meet with you they won’t feel like your attention is half on them and half on the computer.

3. Keep all regular reference and inspirational books handy – preferably within a step and a grab from your chair.

This can be done inexpensively by furnishing your office with store-bought bookshelves.

4. Invest the time and money to find and purchase a great chair.

From a personal productivity standpoint, your office chair is the most important thing you own. It is more important than your house – even more important than your car. Just think… on a typical day, you may spend eight to 10 hours in that chair. Your chair is also one of the first things people notice when they step into the room. So make sure it looks good.

Adjust your chair so that your trunk meets your hips at 90 degrees, and tilt your computer so that the top line of the text is five degrees below your eye level. (That way, you don’t have to move your head up and down to read.) Your keyboard should be positioned so that your hands lie flat. Set down a hard plastic mat on the floor beneath your chair so you can roll freely.

5. Keep an egg timer on your desk.

Use the egg timer to make sure you are never seated for more than an hour at a time. (I block my time off in 30- and 60-minute increments. I’ve rarely needed to go beyond that – even for important meetings.) Each time the timer rings, stand up before you turn it off. And once you are standing, get moving. Do something physical for five minutes. I stretch or do squats and push-ups. Sometimes I walk around the office and chat up my colleagues.

6. Get rid of the mess.

You may think it works to your advantage to have everything you could possibly need piled up around you, but it doesn’t. It just shows the rest of the world how unwilling you are to take control of your life.

"A place for everything, and everything in its place." That includes holders for pencils, pens, and reading glasses – separate and easily within reach.

7. Use two inboxes and two folders.

The first inbox is the one that other people put stuff in. The second inbox is for you. Go through the first inbox every morning and select from it any important work you intend to do that day. Transfer that work to the second inbox. Take the rest of the stuff in the first inbox and file it in one of two folders.

You need one folder that has 31 pockets, one for each day of the current month. And you need one with 12 pockets, one for each month of the year. As you go through your first inbox, decide (specifically) when you will attend to each item. If that date falls in the current month, file it in the first folder – in the pocket that corresponds to that date. If it falls in a future month, file it in the second folder – in the pocket that corresponds to that month.

Make sure the second inbox (your inbox) is cleaned out by the end of the day.

8. Have one or two drawers for everything you might need in case of an "emergency."

In one of my drawers, I keep all the tools I might need at the office. Small screwdrivers (even a jeweler’s screwdriver that fits the tiny screw that holds the arms to my reading glasses), WD-40, duct tape, etc.

In another drawer, I stash some back-up clothing (two laundered shirts and two ties) so I can look good for an unanticipated but important meeting.

As it happens, I have my own bathroom at the office where I can stock a toothbrush and toothpaste, bandages, ibuprofen, hand sanitizer, cuticle cutters, etc. But these items can easily go in one of your "emergency" drawers.

9. Hang a clock on the wall that your visitors can see.

Nod at the clock at the beginning of each meeting as you announce exactly how many minutes you have to solve the problem at hand. (Do NOT use the egg timer for this!)

10. Set up an old-fashioned bar.

Stock it with Scotch, vodka, and rum for those moments when kind words aren’t enough. A humidor for cigars is optional for some, but not for me. If drinking is not your thing, try a Chinese tea service. I have a bar on one side of my office, a tea service on the other. They both come in handy.

11. Bring some life into your office.

A live plant breathes back oxygen into the environment. It softens the hard surfaces too. Select a big green plant, if you have room for it. Care for it on a few of your five-minute "egg timer" breaks.

12. Decorate your office with signs of who you are as a complete person.

Put up your family photos and your business awards. The walls and spaces of your office are gazing grounds for your visitors. Make sure the message they are getting is the one you want them to get.

And make sure there’s at least one thing in your line of sight that makes you smile – maybe an inspirational quotation. Keep it there to work its magic until it loses power, and then find something new to replace it.

Invest in a sound system, too. You don’t need anything fancy – just something that puts out soft background music.

One final thing that I won’t put on the list because it may be too much to ask for until you are the boss: a daybed for a power nap when you really need one.

1. Don’t check email the first thing in the morning or when you start your computer. Start with doing the most important issues first. Allocate a time sorely for doing it.
2. Sort work task by priority – most profitable one first
3. Use an egg timer to start off your work. Go in work “bouts” of 2 hours of uninterrupted solid work. You can further split down into 4 smaller “bouts” of half work each time. 4. You may reward yourself with a short rest between each half hour bout or after the 2 hour cycle.
5. Focus on 1 task at a time. And only open windows relating to the particular specific task.
6. Make a list of all distractions and everything that is holding you back.
7. Don’t read emails obsessively, MSN, TV, internet surfing, forums etc
8. Always reward yourself after a hard work
9. Drink lots of water.

10. Exercise to get your heart beat up!

2008 was a year that was full of ups and downs. More downs actually.

There were the terrorist attack in Mumbai, earthquake in Shenzhen and devastating cyclone in Myanmar.

Financially wise, there was unprecedented bloodletting. The fall out from the sub prime crisis has seen titans like Bear Stearns, Merrill Lynch and Citibank taken a real body blow.

Damn! Even my favorite club, Newcastle United, has descended into a real farce. Just when I thought it cannot go worst…it just did!

Personally, 2008 has been a real learning experience for  me. Made some mistakes, but have also gained a lot. And learnt a lot.

At the present moment, everything seems gloomy. But as we embarked on a new journey in a new year, I urge everyone to keep your chin up and forge ahead with renewed determination and vigor.

Always remember one thing:

It’s Always Darkest Before Dawn!

When things get soooooo bad, the only way left now is…you guess it….UP!

So, without wasting much time, let me leave you with 35 tips that will lead you to a wiser, healthier, more productive and successful you!

1. Set a schedule/checklist of daily to do tasks and resolve to finish it

2. Resolve to exercise at least 3-4 times a week. Jog…work out…do whatever to work out a sweat and your heart. You will find yourself more refreshed and more ready to tackle your work.

3. GET OUT OF YOUR COMPUTER! It’s unhealthy to keep looking at your computer. Take a break. Go out. Recharge yourself, then come back to work at your computer. You will find yourself much more productive that way.

4. Drink water regularly. 8-12 cups a day at least.

5. Focus. Do one thing at a time.

6. Work first. Play, email, surf…whatever later (but don’t forget to take breaks).

7. Eliminate distractions when at work. That includes surfing, email, online messaging and making unnecessary calls.

8. Don’t be late for appointments. Keep a 30 minutes buffer.

9. When you feel bogged down with too many things…STOP! Clear your mind. Remove all the clutter. Meditate and breathe. When you are settled down, relook your goal/to-do lists and move ahead.

10. Aim for incremental improvement and successful. They add up.

11. Be SMART. Aim SMART. Think SMART. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time Bound. Get it?

12. Ready. Fire. Aim.

13. Visualize success.

14. Study. Observe. Do.

15. Spent 60% of your time on putting money in your pocket (revenue-generating activities), 30% learning more, 10% planning the future.

16. Celebrate your victories.

17. Give back to society.

18. Focus most of your time on your core strengths. Outsource the rest.

19. Treat your friends, customers and strangers the way you want them to treat you.

20. You will never be totally done with work. So stop trying to keep going on and on and on.

21. Strive to create 10 times the value from the price of the product you sell.

22. Always try to sell more. Upsell, cross-sell, follow up.

23. Think of the 80/20 rule. Focus your effort on that 20% that makes you the most money and gives you the best result.

24. Quality over quantity. Anytime.

25. When you got good quality…then aim for quantity.

26. Create your business around your life.

27. Always track and measure your ROI.

28. Eliminate. Automate. Liberate.

29. Talk less. Listen More. Much much more.

30. Be less sales-sy. More genuine.

31. Network more. Good JV partners are extremely important to success.

32. Accept 100% responsibility. The buck stops with you. And you only.

33. Be slow to hire, fast to fire.

34. Stay resilient. Don’t quit.

35. Think in terms of “You”, “Your Market”, “Your Marketing”, “Your People” and “Your System”.
