Choosing a Top-Level Domain: .com, .net, .org, or something else?

choosing top level domain names Let’s say you’ve come up with a great new website name. It’s catchy and unique and you’re lucky because no one has registered it yet.

The only question now is what top-level domain (TLD) extension should you get? .com? .us? .info? There are a few hundred TLDs to choose from so how do you pick?

It’s always a good practice (if you don’t mind spending $35/year) to purchase the .com, .org, and .net extensions of your domain name – especially if you plan on building a large brand on the internet. Most of the major search engines give a lot of value to these three extensions when it comes to "exact match" searches.

Let’s say you own Example.com but you didn’t bother buying Example.net. Well someone could go and buy Example.net and just park the page or he or she could rank for your brand name or product. An example of someone else buying up a branded name is Twitter.ca. If you type in Twitter.ca you will not go to the Twitter service that you normally use – instead there is landing page.

Online Marketing Success Cycle

marketing cycle In my previous post, we touch on rules to how to win the business war.

Today, let’s delve deeper on actions we can take on the journey to online marketing success.

Again, we want to keep on the premise that success can come in simple and actionable steps.

Nothing complicated. Just a cycle that we have to keep doing…keep optimizing and…keep going.

This online marketing success cycle I’m going to show you today will lay out the path clearly for you. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Just do it.

By the way, this cycle is not devised by me. Been used with great effect by many successful online businesses. So you know it works. And it was first pointed out to me by one of the best marketers I know – Paul Myers of TalkBizNews.

So here goes:

1. Sell Products

Most obvious start. You don’t make money by selling air. So you create on product that has a demand and meets a need or is a solution to a problem – and sell it. Then money will flow in.

What Do You NEVER Do When You Entertain A Customer?

entertaining client Very often when you do business, you have to entertain your client. Sometimes it can be a dinner. Or a drink out. Or maybe even golf.

You just do what it takes to seal the deal.

Now, entertaining a client is a fine art. You may laugh along with him, even when his jokes are not funny…listen to his needs and grouses…agree with him on discussed issues…basically doing everything right to make him like you.

All well and good. You are on the right track…

BUT…remember NEVER ever to do one thing…

The one thing that may seems so small on the surface but may swing the favor against you…

That is when it comes to payment…and when you rightly foot the bill…NEVER NEVER EVER ask for a receipt in your client’s presence.

NEVER!

Why?

When you do so, you make your client feel that he is just part of a business set up. And that entertaining him just means incurring business expenses to get his business.

You want to go beyond that. You want to make him feel like he is a friend. A friend worth spending on. A friend whose time and relationship you value a lot.
