Marketing Experiments Exposed!

Marketing Experiments In online marketing, the revenue of your website coming in can be boiled down to 1 simple equation:

Revenue = Traffic x Conversion

Pure and simple.

To earn, you either increase your traffic or conversion, or both, and your revenue will go up.

Now, let’s just think about traffic. If we want to bring in substantial traffic, we can try the following methods:

  • Write and submit articles
  • Social bookmarking
  • Submit to directories
  • Submit to search engines
  • Search engine optimization
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Joint venture
  • Forum marketing
  • Pay per click
  • Forum marketing
  • Classified Ads
  • Tell-A-Friend/Word of mouth
  • Pod-casting
  • Squidoo/Hubpage
  • Press release
  • Email marketing
  • ……And so on

Okay, you may be thinking, that is a hell lot to do just to bring in traffic so you can increase your revenue.

Indeed it is hard work. Traffic is important. No doubt about it.

But what about the other factor?

Think Conversion

You can easily tweak any parts of your marketing effort to increase your conversion from 1-1000%. All can be done in a matter of minutes.

How? Test, that is!

A Successful Niche Marketing Experiment

nichemarketing In July, I embarked on a mission. To create a niche site, that will bring me a nice small side income – on autopilot mode.

So there I went. I built it and added content. After which I periodically added in new content just to keep up the maintenance.

In the end, I have a total of 15 articles. That was about it. I have not updated the site for more than a month.

It is basically hands off for me. But the commissions from the referrals kept coming in.

Truth be told, I seemed to get more commissions when I do nothing than when I do something on the site. Strange. But true.

Well, I guess that is applicable only when your site is up and running smoothly.

In fact, I even had a 400+ USD day in commissions for that site just a few days back.

I must say that I was rather please with myself, considering the returns in comparison with the work I’ve put in.

So Why Am I Telling You All These?

Up Close and Personal With Joel Christopher

Joel Christopher and Me Last Thursday, I had the honor and privilege of meeting Joel Christopher in person.

Here was this guy – a well established online marketer who is up there with the very best – standing right next to me.

My impression of him? Very warm. Very unassuming. Very down-to-earth.

He is a guru alright. He built his name on being a list-building expert. But he is not like other typical gurus. He really comes across as very real and genuine that takes interest in the person he is talking to.

Did I mention that his assistant, Mimi, is such a lovely lady too?

I met up with Samuel, Alvin and Martin, some marketers I’ve got to know recently in a mastermind group.

From left: Samuel, Martin, Joel, Alvin and Me (partially cut off…damn!)

Had a good chat together with Joel together with the rest of the gang.

Also had a chance to talk to Ian Del Carmen, an online marketer who is also a Warrior from the Philippines. Really friendly dude.

All in all, it was a very engaging session networking with fellow marketers

Can You Handle The World’s Best Taglines?

tagline Attention-grabbing headlines are the ads for the ads. It can alone decide if the advertisement will be successful or wildly successful.

Taglines work in a similar way. It complements the product name. It sums up what the product is all about in a few words.

Sometimes a good tagline can make the difference between a outstanding product or an averagely mediocre one. Just like how headlines can influence the profitability of an ad.

Some of the most memorable taglines to me are:

Lexus: The relentless pursuit of perfection.

MasterCard: There are some things that money can’t buy. For everything else, there is MasterCard.

Nike: Just do it!

Kodak: Share moments. Share life

L’Oréal: Because I’m worth it.

Simply BRILLIANT!

What about yours? Have any taglines you particularly fancy? Or any you created yourself?

Share it with me, my friend…

I’m listening….
